October 22nd and 30th, 2003
(Unless otherwise indicated, photos by Don of www.WascanaPark.com)
These pictures were taken on October 22nd and 30th, 2003.
Oct. 22: Starting at the southeast side of the Broad Street Bridge,
going along the north shore towards Albert Memorial Bridge.
The water is slowly draining out.
The upper pond is beginning to look like a grass field.
While most pictures are self explanatory, four require a little more explanation.
Three near Willow Island.
1)What looks like a land bridge across to the island, is more likely the remains of a temporary dam
constructed in the 1960's when the area was dredged out.
2/3) Two pictures taken near the north end of what look like posts in the water.
This is the remnants of the bridge to Willow Island that was torn down in the 1960's.
4) The final picture is of the sand bag dam built several years ago when a section of the north shore was redeveloped.
Oct. 30: Near the Willow Island parking lot.
